    Since 2006, Ralf is with the Project Management Juelich (PtJ) where he is responsible for Smart Grid R&D funding on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
    PtJ is one of the leading project management agencies in Germany and works hand in hand with public authorities in science, industry, and policy-making. PtJ supports national Ministries in the German federal and state governments as well as the European Commission in achieving their funding policy objectives. On behalf of those Ministries, PtJ implements research and innovation funding programs with the aim of enhancing Germany’s competitiveness as a prime location for research and innovation in a common European Research Area.
    Founded as a project management agency in 1974 to implement the German federal government’s first energy research program, today PtJ boast a wide range of topics with some 40 years of experience and 1092 employees. Within programs supporting research and innovation, PtJ allocated some € 1.61 billion of funding during the 2017 financial year on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), and the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) as well as on behalf of several regional state goverments.
    In his talk, Ralf will present the current situation of the renewables deployment in Germany and their effects on Germany’s transmission and distribution networks. He will show how renewables completely change power grid best practices in Germany and how R&D programs address those challenges.

    Vice President of Technology Development & Standardization
    Zainal Arifin is currently Vice President of Technology Development and Standardization of PLN. His main responsibility is to do technology assessment, standardization and innovation management in PLN. He is Team leader of PLN Smart Grid and also Head of Electric Vehicle infrastructure development in PLN.
    He was invited to deliver speech at some international conferences. His writing about energy, technology and innovation management is published at some newspaper, magazines, and book in Indonesia. He has also published articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
    He received a BSC in mechanical engineering from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Indonesia in 1994. He earned his MBA in operation management in 2010 from University of Missouri-. St Louis (UMSL), USA, and a PhD in strategic management within research focusing to technology adoption in electricity utility industry from Universitas Indonesia in 2016.

    Biography:
    Dr. Titiporn Sangpetch received her BEng in Electrical Engineering at Prince of Songkhla University, THAILAND, in 1994; MEng in Engineering Management at the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA, in 1998; and PhD of Power Engineering in Energy Management, majoring in power systems planning at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, in 2006, respectively. Since graduating in 1994, she has been working with EGAT as a power systems engineer in Transmission System Engineering Division. At the division, her responsibility includes EGAT specifications of power transformers, instrument transformers, surge arresters, disconnecting switches and power circuit breakers through the rated voltages of 115-500 kV.
    In 1997, she had an opportunity to further her studies by undertaking a MEng Degree in Engineering Management at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she graduated in December 1998. She returned to Thailand for the next two year and worked as a power system engineer at the Transmission System Engineering Division. During this period, she was appointed to be a working member of the steering committee on Grid Code restructuring scheme of electricity supply industry.
    In 2001, she started her Doctorial research under the scholarship of Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO), Ministry of Energy, the Royal Thai Government at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. She finished in 2006 and received a PhD of Power Engineering in Energy Management, majoring in power systems planning. Currently she is working at the System Planning Division, EGAT, as Senior Engineer Level 10 in Transmission System Investment Planning Department. Her research interests include power systems planning, management and control, and economics along with Artificial Intelligent (AI) techniques applicable for power engineering. In addition, her work is centered on sustainable development by means of renewable energy and environmental management, distributed generation for long-term grid connection planning, and power system reliability assessment.

    He is the senior energy specialist (Smart Grids) of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of ADB. His major roles are the support of operations department and the development & management of knowledge in smart grid area. Prior to join ADB, he worked at private sector for 3 years and public sector for 30 years as a power system engineer and researcher in Korea. He was the person in charge of the National Smart Grid Roadmap, the 1st Smart Grid Action planand Smart Grid R&D Program Planning in Korea.
    He has been actively participated in the international collaboration activities such as APEC EGNRET, APEC Smart Grid Initiative, ISGAN (International Smart Grid Action Network) and so on. Through these activities, he becomes familiar to the status of smart grid of both developed countries and developing countries.

    Heiko Staubitz has been Senior Manager Investor Consulting in the department for Energy, Building & Environmental Technologies within GTAI since 2007. He is responsible for the industrial settlement of international investors in Germany in the field of energy storage and smart grids. Prior to his position at GTAI, Heiko Staubitz worked for many years as product developer in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency at EnBW, Germany's third-largest energy supplier. He has an academic background in energy and process engineering.
