Join the Smart Grid NW and the OpenADR Alliance for a workshop in the Northwest, September 27, 2016 - Seattle, WA.
Smart Grid NW is sponsoring two important demand response events in the Pacific Northwest in September. The events are being hosted to address the specific requirements of the NW Power and Conservation Council's 7th Power Plan for demand response to meet the regions peaking and system adequacy needs.   Automated demand response programs are expected to play an important role in helping Power Plan to achieve it goals.
On September 27th, the OpenADR Alliance and Smart Grid Northwest are collaborating on an OpenADR workshop lead by Jim Zuber, chief test architect from QualityLogic. Workshop attendees will learn how to leverage the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) 2.0 smart grid standard to support popular energy programs, such as Critical Peak Pricing, Capacity Bidding, Thermostat and Direct Load Control, Fast DR Dispatch/Ancillary Services, Electric Vehicle (EV) DR and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) DR. To view the agenda and to register please click here.
On September 28th, Smart Grid Northwest is hosting a one day NW Demand Response Symposium at the Pacific Tower in Seattle. This Symposium involves close collaboration with the Council, the Bonneville Power Administration, regional utilities, demand response providers, and other industry stakeholders. This webinar will touch on the following:
  • Understanding the role of AMI and grid edge technologies
Supporting beneficial consumption patterns & encouraging prosumers
The role of market structures and policies
Attendees will gain a sense of how demand response is progressing in these two exciting smart grid spaces. Speakers to include Rolf Bienert, technical director for the OpenADR Alliance. To learn more and to register please click here.
According to a recent report featured by Memoori an independent market research firm, "Adoption of Open Demand Response (OpenADR) standards, which are used to send information and signals to cause electrical power-using devices in buildings to be turned off during periods of high demand is critical to the success of this interface relationship."  Read more.
Greenlots, a global provider of open standards-based distributed energy resource solutions, says it was selected by Avista Utilities, located in Spokane, Wash., for a grid-integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging pilot that enables the utility to own and operate EV infrastructure. Greenlots' SKY platform supports Open Charge Point Protocol for charger-to-central-system communication, Automated Demand Response (OpenADR 2.0b) for flexible EV charging under diverse grid conditions.  Read more.
